Sorry to say that this year you are not applicable for IES exam because your age is now 20 years old.But the minimum age criteria is 21 years old.

So you can try for next year for IES exam.

If you have completed engineering discipline in following departments then you are eligible for IES exam

1.Civil Engineering
2.Electrical Engineering
3.Mechanical engineering.
4.Electronics and Communication Engineering.

If you have M.Sc degree in Physics , Radio Physics then you are applicable for IES exam.

Any engineering branch are applicable for IES exam but you should go for above mention subject.

The applicant age should between 21 yrs to 30 yrs.Age relaxation is provide for SC/ST/OBC candidate.

Final year student also eligible for IES exam .

Number of attempts for IES exam is for general student it is 4., for OBC it is 7 times. and for SC/ST it is 9 time.

beacause elligblity cariteria for age in IES 2012 are following


(a) A candidate for this examination must
have attained the age of 21 years and must
not have attained the age of 30 years on
the Ist January, 2012 i.e. he/she must have
been born not earlier than 2nd January,
1982 and not later than 1st January, 1991.

(b) The upper age limit of 30 years will be
relaxable upto 35 years in the case of
Government Servants of the following
categories, if they are employed in a
Department/Office under the control of any
of the authorities mentioned in column 1
below and apply for admission to the
examination for all or any of the Service(s)/
Post(s) mentioned in column 2, for which
they are otherwise eligible

You are not eligible to write IES at the age of 20 years as the qualifying age is 21 years.

IES-INDIAN ENGINEERING SERVICE, conducted by UPSC every year for recruitment of engineers in the technical top post in the various engineering Dept .under Central Govt. such as:-

MECHANICAL DEPT.
CIVIL DEPT.
ELECTRICAL DEPT.
ELECTRONICS AND TELECOMMUNICATION DEPT.

The candidate must be an Indian National having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam in Engineering any stream or pass from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years, is eligible to apply for IES. There is upper age relaxation for SC/ST candidate up to 5 years and for OBC up to 3 years.

The selection is through written exam based on the subject from the Mechanical/Civil/Electrical/Electronics and Telecommunication streams followed by personal interview.

INDIAN ENGINEERING SERVICE(I.E.S)

I.E.S engineering services is conducted by U.P.S.C once in a year.

The candidate who apply in I.E.S exam must obtain engineering degree in following branch:-

I am sorry to say that you are not eligible for I.E.S exam at age of 20..
If you want if you apply for I.E.S then you can apply in the age of 21 year..

with this Age limit your not applicable for Indian Engineering service Examination .. To appear in Indian Engineering Service Examination than you're age should be Minimum 21 years and Not more than 30 years ..

So, As per you're age .. you have Not reach 21 years for age .. As of Now your not eligible for IES Entrance Examination ..

If your reach 21 years your definitely eligible for IES Entrance Examination ..

Apart from this Eligibility Criteria the candidate should satisfy the educational Qualification which is also very Important to appear in IES Entrance Examination ..

IES stands for ( Indian Engineering Service ) and this Entrance Examination is Conducted by Union Public Service Commission for every twice in a year ..

The Applicant should hold Engineering course B.tech/BE Course from recognized university .. Final year candidate may also applicable for this Entrance Examination ..

Appearing candidate age should be Minimum 21 years and Maximum 30 years at the time appearing in the Entrance Examination.
