In which area one can do his/her research for PhD after completion of M.Sc in Microbiology?

I have completed my M.Sc in Microbiology and now wants to pursue PhD but, I'm not able to make up my mind for choosing an area of research. Can you suggest me some areas in which I can do my research for PhD?
