The eligibility to appear for PGT is that candidate must have passed master degree from a recognised university along with B.Ed from a recognised university. Without having B.Ed qualification one cannot apply for the PGT recruitment examination.

So, you can apply only after B.Ed qualification.

Yes, it is mandatory to complete B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education) degree course after regular academic degree courses to be a teacher in High School.

But, in case if you are interested in appearing in SET (State Entrance Test) / National Eligibility Test (NET) in Sociology paper to become an assistant lecturer then in that case you are not required to complete B.Ed. degree course instead you are required to have completed your Master degree course in Sociology with at least 55% marks in aggregate (50% marks jn aggregate in case of reserved category candidates) from a recognised university.

BEd is a mandatory qualification to appear for examination to get recruited as teacher in higher secondary.

SET Eligibility criteria
Must be an Indian

Must have completed postgraduation in any field from a recognised university with atleast 55% marks , for sc/st 50%

Those who want to appear for SET in sociology must complete their PG degree in sociology.

Yes, BEd is compulsory to become a High School teacher. A candidate must have a BEd degree with a minimum score of 55% marks is required to become a teacher. The pass percentage required may vary from school to school. Apart from a BEd degree some schools also ask for a Master's degree in the respective field to teach higher classes. There are various National and State level examinations for admission into BEd programs.

The eligibility to appear in the SET examination in Sociology is a candidate must have done a post-graduation in the relevant stream with a minimum score of 55% marks in their bachelor's degree from a recognized university. The SET examination is conducted by each state and after clearing that examination you would be eligible for a lecturer job. There is no age limit to apply for this examination.
