# CLAT stands for Common Law Admission Test.

# Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national level entrance examination conducted by Chanakya National Law University, Patna in association with 16 National Law Universities in order to make admission for the 1100 seats of undergraduate, postgraduate and integrated law courses.

# Required educational qualification:

* Must be 10+2 or intermediate or equivalent in any stream from recognised board with minimum 45% marks for General category candidate and 40% marks for reserved category candidate for the undergraduate courses.

* Must be LLB or have completed 5 year Integrated LLB degree with minimum 55% marks by General category candidate and 40% marks by reserved category for the postgraduate courses.


# Required minimum age (as on 01.07.2016) for CLAT for undergraduate courses is as follows:

* Must be below the age of 20 years for the General category candidate.
* Must be below the age of 22 years for the reserved category candidate.
* Must be below the age of 22 years for the physically handicapped candidate.
* There is no any upper age limit for postgraduate level courses.

* Availability of application form : January 2016

* There will total 200 questions carrying total 200 marks.
* Provision of negative marking @ 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer.
* The duration of the examination will be 2 hours and there will be MCQ type.


# Distribution of marks in written examination for UNDERGRADUATE COURSES:

* English language (40 questions carrying 40 marks)
* General Knowledge and General studies (50 questions carrying 50 marks)
* Reasoning Ability (40 questions carrying 40 marks)
* Legal Aptitude (50 questions carrying 50 marks)

* Provision of negative marking @ 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer.
