The optional Subject for preliminary examinations is Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Commerce, Economics, Electrical Engineering, Geography, Geology, Indian History, Law, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Science, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Public Administration, Sociology, Statistics and Zoology

The optional Subjects for the Main Examination Agriculture are Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Anthropology, Botany, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Commerce and Accountancy, Economics, Electrical Engineering, Geography, Geology, History, Law, Management, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Science, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science and International Relations, Psychology, Public Administration, Sociology, Statistics, and Zoology. Literature of one of the following languages :Arabic, Assamese, Bodo, Bengali, Dogri, Chinese, English, French, German, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Nepali, Oriya, Pali, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Sanskrit, Santali, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu.
The choice of optional subject depends on your interest and also how well you can prepare for that particular subject.

Frind as u mentioned that one of the paper i.e public adm. You have selected for 1st optional hence I think it better to choose sociology as in psychology is little bit conceptual in sociology u can get the theme quite easily.

Yes selecting first optional as Public Administration is very good because of the following reason

as this is related to administration it will greatly help you after becoming IAS officer

As you will deal with many people in your area

So public administration will help you in all the ways..

Next optional you selected is Psychology or Sociology

I personally like Psychology because i'm deeply interested in this subject

as we can know about human mentalities around us and we can behave accordingly..

and there are many more advantages if you select this

Regards

Hi

As you have done post graduation in biotechnology , i assume you are from science background.

With science background, i think Botany/Chemistry/Medical Sciences would be a good optional subject for you.

Syllabus for these subjects include majority of what is taught in 11th and 12th in science stream.

Go through the syllabus once for the optional subject and decide accordingly whether you want to go for sociology/psychology or science subjects.

Regards

Optional subjects should be chosen according to one's personal interest.

You have not mentioned your strong points, so how can I know in which subject you are strong.

Only you know that.

So choose another subject in which you are very strong and faith that you will score good in that subject.

And you love to learn about the subject.

But don't choose the following combination:

Political Science & International Relations and Public Administration
Commerce and Management
Anthropology and Sociology
Maths and Statistics
Agriculture and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science
Management and Public Administration
Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science and Medical Science
Any two branches of engineering.
Combination of two literatures.

I am studying BIOTECHNOLOGY with Management at the University of Edinburgh and I am in third year. I wanted to know what career prospects there are for fresh graduates from this field.
Also, What elective subjects should I take so that it will help me secure a well paid and well-positioned job in the leading BIO Companies . I am interested in studying subjects that will be useful and helpful in securing a suitable job and then eventually I would like to be an entrepreneur.
The subjects I am considering to take are:
Structures and Funtions of Protein 3
Molecular Genetics 3
Immunology 3.

Any experts from this Industry or any Professors of this course, please advise.
