I am Btech graduate.i have decided to go for IAS exam just few days back.tell me when should i appear for this exam??which subjects should be my optional subjects?how to start prparation for IAS?

Preliminary exam (CSAT) for selection to IAS is usually conducted in the month of May. Next exam is expected to be held on May 19, 2013. You need to prepare for GK and Aptitude to clear CSAT. Subjects like Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering will be selected as optional subject. Preparation can be done with the aid of reference books and previous year question papers.
