pl suggest some books magagines ,periodicals etc for GT in engg descipline like mechanical engg , electrical engg , instrument engg.

there are no separate books for these exams ,
you have to prepare just like you prepare for gate or any other exam
in civil engineering a book named "OBJECTIVE CIVIL ENGINEERING BY S.CHAN PUBLICATIONS "is really an helpful book for such exams,

The pattern & Syllabus of PSU’s are mixture of GATE & IES. The syllabus of different PSU’s may vary with minor changes in topics depending upon company profile and current requirements.

the general Pattern of PSU (Public sector units) is :-

Normally: 150-200 Question asked within 2 – 2½ Hour.
Negative Marking: ¼
Technical: ¾th of total question
General aptitude with English: ¼th

For both private and PSU books will remain same.
And prepare your core subjects because during interview they will ask technical question in deep.
