Can I select any one of my engineering subject as optional subject?
Respected sir/mam, I am G.V.R.sagar from visakhapatnam[Andhra pradesh]. Being an IPS officer is my life time dream. I'm doing my engeneering 2nd year now. I want names of some books to reffer in order to secure good score in IPS exam... Can I select any one of my engineering subject as optional subject? I am expecting some guidence from U...

yes you can select any one of the engineering subject but it will be better if you select the subject from which you are graduating because it will be easier for you to score in it more marks.
you can follow books of pratiyogitha darpan they are really helpful all the best |

for scoring good score in ips exam you have to be reading the news paper regularly.
you also have to read various text books like Indian history etc, follow the books of career launcher all the best |

Yes, i think you can choose any subjects as your optional subjects, but i will suggest you choose those subject in which you have more command, for preperation and syllabus, then please visit this given site of upsc. because all the information and detail of optional subjects are availiable in this site. http://upsc.gov.in/exams/notifications/csp2009/sec3-syll.htm. ok all the best. |

hi friend yes sure you can select any of the subject for your ips preparation its better if you start preparing from now on good luck....you can refer some history books and some general knowledge books..........you can refer from cisco publication and safari online books

i think the branch from which you are doing engineering will contribute as one subject,you have to see the official website of upsc for more details of the subjects available ,

but remember that you must select the subject from the list of subjects. it is better to you that in which subject you have completed,that subject is better to you.because you have knowledge about that. all the best. |

You can select only when you will be in the 7th semester of your engineering before that it is not possible to select any subject as option... And now if you talk about the IPS exam then i do not think that you can choose any subject there are the name of the optional subject and then you will have to select accordingly... Best Wishes... |

you can select your graduation subject as your optional .if you feel difficult in doing that,you choose other optionals from the list.you can take general subjects like public administration,sociology,geography,history.
