CAT exam covers questions on reasoning, numerical ability and general awareness. For GATE exam there will be questions on engineering mathematics and concerned subject. Exam pattern is also different. So it is obvious that CAT coaching will not help in clearing GATE. Exam preparations for any of these tests can be done with reference books.

You can look for a job immediately after completion of engineering degree. Final year students are eligible to attend GATE. GATE qualified candidates can easily find a job with PSU like CONCOR or GAIL. Mechanical department under state government offer related job opportunities. Qualifying IES will help you to have a rewarding job under central government.

ya..it is as important as gate....if u want do mba aftr the btech..then it is a golden combo..u can get an excellent package after doing mba..so go with it...

CAT exams are conducted by Indian Institute of Management (IIM) each year for admission to its two year PGDM programme.

In the CAT exams below sections are there:
Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation;
Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning

GATE exams are conducted by IIT for the Mtech programmes
Minimum eligibilty for GATE exams is BE/EBTECH pass

CAT and GATE exams are completely different.

So CAT coaching will only help you for the CAT exams and other MBA entrance exams like XAT, SNAP, MAT etc
