Hello friend,
The minnimum educational qualification for writing IES examination is a degree in engineering or equivallent from a recognised university. IES examination is conducted by UPSC for all four categories of engineering for its respective degree/diploma holder i.e. Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical engineering and Electronics and Telecommunication engineering. The syllabus for the examination consists of two objective papers and two conventional papers of the main stream with one paper of general abilities. A total of 1000 marks is distributed equally among all the papers i.e. 200 each. The duration for general ability and objective papers is 2 hours each and for conventional papers is 3 hours each. |

Re: Computer Science Students Eligibility in IES?
Yes of course you are eligible to apply for IES.
IES is divided into 4 Categories, viz: Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics and TeleCommunication. So, you have to either go through Electronics & Telecommunication or Electrical, and both will be very difficult for you to cope up so I would not suggest you to go for IES. |

Re: Computer Science Students Eligibility in IES?
hi friend,
I dont know why previous post didnt take your question in write way. Although it is true that you mentioned IES, and most of the posts were telling about Indian economical servises instead of engineering services. You should mention engineering service examination in the question. However, in IES only four subjects are there , which are electrical, electronics and communication, civil and mechanical. If you really want to prepare for the IES , then you have to choose subjects among them. |
