Re: Cutoff scores for Mechanical Engineering in IIT Bombay?
Dear Friend
The relationship between marks in JEE and the All India Rank in JEE is not exactly explicable. It varies to a very high extent every year. The cutoff marks depends on the level of toughness of the exam and so the availability of options can't be stated in terms of marks in the entrance exam. If you are projecting Mechanical Engineering at IIT Bombay you should score All India Rank better than 500. Even if you don't get good enough AIR so that you may get Mechanical but you get good enough AIR so that you may get some other branch then you should take admission in some other branch too. You can get your branch changed after 1st year if you perform well in the 1st year and your 1st year Grades are in Top 1%. |

Re: Cutoff scores for Mechanical Engineering in IIT Bombay?
As you must be aware of that competition for mechanical branch in IIT b is very high among students, also its not too easy to predict cut off, it depend on various factors.
If you belong to general category, then you should have atleast rank within 500 that means you should score above 300 in IITjee, also you can apply in delhi as well, both IIT delhi and bombay are good for mechanical. And if you belong to SC/ST, then you can easily get mech if you can score rank within 4000. There is also branch option change in IITs, that means if you are not able to get mech & get some other below it, then after completion you can change program if you would be able to score CGPA above 9.5(which is very difficult, but many geeks able to score above 9.5). |

Re: Cutoff scores for Mechanical Engineering in IIT Bombay?
See there is no relation between marks and seat filling.
Seats are alloted according to your rank in IITJEE. Mostly you will get iit bombay mechanical with a rank of 600 and above for general category. Each year the ranks and marks vary according to the level of the entrance test. so roughly speaking you will have to score above 300 marks in the entrance exam to get the branch of your choice.
