If your aim is to become IPS Officer, then you must have to apply for UPSC Civil services examination, And To appear for this examination you need to be a graduate in any discipline form a recognised university.

For this year the examination was already completed, The examination was held in 2 Stages, preliminary examination and Main examination. The Preliminary examination 2011 was already completed on 12/June/2011 and the main examination was going to be held on 29/Oct/2011 But still the result of Preliminary examination was Not yet Declared.

And If you have missed the Chance in this year, then please dont worry, Just apply for this examination in Next year i.e on 2012.

The schedule was already availiable in the UPSC Official website and the Notification of 2012 Examination was Going to be declared on 04/Feb/2012 and the last date of apply for this examination was 05/March/2012, the examination was going to be held on 20/May/2011.

So, Please dont worry the Notification was Declared in the Month of Feb and it will be Updated in the employment newspaper or in the UPSC Official website. Eligible candidates may fill the application form Online and you can also obtained the application form directly from the Designated post offices in India.

So, If you have Fulfill the given Eligiblity criteria then you are eligible to apply for this examination Next year -

>> You need to be a graduate in any discipline form a recognised university.

>> Your age should between 21 to 30 years (Upper age relaxation is applicable for SC, ST, OBC Candidates and other reserved category candidates)

>> Final year graduate candidates are also eligible to apply for this examination.

General candidates are apply for this examination only 4 times, 7 attempts is applicable for OBC Candidates and No limits for SC, ST Candidates.

ips exam is basically civil services exam,ips is just the name of a service.also ips or civil service exam prelims notification is generally issued in leading newspapers in the month of march and the prelims are held in may.the results of prelims are generally out by august end.so you can apply for civil service exam the next year.

To become an IPS officer you have to apply for the civil service exam which is conducted once a year by the UPSC .This year main examination is not over yet but the notification of the next year examination has been declared .

Eligibility for the examination ::

ELIGIBILITY:

You must have got bachelor’s degree in any streams from a recognized university.

You should be between 21-30 years .There are some relaxation in upper age limit and the number of attempts .

35 years for SC/ST
33 for OBC .

No of attempts ::
4 for general students
7 for OBC students
No limit for SC/ST

I.P.S Indian Police Service Examination.

This examination is conducted by UPSC every year.This year preliminary examination was already over on.....12/06/11 and main examination notification is not released.

If your not apply for Preliminary examination then don't worry about that.The next year of examination is updated in the official website.I am provide the exam dates of IPS Examination.

Eligibility Criteria :-

• 4 attempts for General candidates.

IPS exam conducted by UPSC(Union Public Service Commission) when positions are vacant.

There are three round in IPS exam.
1.Preliminary Exam
2. Mains Exam
3. Interview

Educational qualification

One should hold a degree of any recognized universitiy. He/She should be an Indian.

Age Limit - 21 years to 30 years.

The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable.
