The basic difference between MCS and M.Sc. in Computer Science is that ,the MCS is a nonthesis degree. The MS is awarded with or without a thesis, and is usually awarded only to students enroute to the PhD. For MCS entrance exam is held and criteria is that you must have mathematics in 12th standard. The exam covers various areas like probability, calculus, etc. Also Computer organisation and language questions are also asked. For a M.Sc. degree you first have to do a B.Sc. with Mathematics as one subject and then apply for M.Sc. degree. Thank you. |

MCS is a position obtained only after completing post graduation. But MSc CS is a graduation done in Computer Science. For getting into both fields Maths is compulsory and not optional.Without Mathematics in your Higher Secondary you cannot go for any of these options.
