Hello friend,
The basic difference between MS and Mtech is that= When u do masters degree from abroad , it is MS And if u pursue master degree from india , it is mtech. For mtech u can go for GATE exam conducted by IITs and IISc. For MS you can do write GRE exam for masters in abroad. After clearing these exams , you will also get Fellowship. Other than these , there are numerous private college for Mtech in india. |

Re: Difference between MS and M.Tech? Which one is more beneficial based on salaries, jobs and scope?
Hi,
Both of them have their benefits if you learn and implement the skills provided by the courses. It is better to choose MTech as it has still very wide scope and a lot of colleges provide it. But at the end of the day, what you lernt from the course matters, not the MS or MTech |

Re: Difference between MS and M.Tech? Which one is more beneficial based on salaries, jobs and scope?
MS is generally done out of india...whereas m.tech is from indian institutes...the weightage of either one of them depends on the b.tech course chosen by the individual..
for eg:- for b.tech biotech ug's a MS gives a huge horizon of oppurtunities when compared to M. Tech as biotech is yet an upcomin field in india.. |

Re: Difference between MS and M.Tech? Which one is more beneficial based on salaries, jobs and scope?
The basic difference between the two courses is the study of orientation and the patterns,The M.TECH is a more detailed course with more importance given on the theoritical aspects and for which attending the classes are important.Even the projects are completed along with the classes.
Where as,MS needs less classroom attendance as it emphasizes more on the practical aspects.Devotion towards the projects is the top most priority here. One more difference between these two courses is the course duration,MTECH generally gets completed in 2 years including the projects.Whereas MS can take upto 3 or 4 years to be completed as the course does not gets over till the completion of the Projects along with subjects knowledge. It is difficult to differentiate the two in term of salary, there are examples of both earning equal packages. |

Re: Difference between MS and M.Tech? Which one is more beneficial based on salaries, jobs and scope?
MS is a medical qualification meaning Master of Surgery whereas M.Tech. is an engineering qualification meaning Master of Technology.
MS is open after M.B.B.S. and M.Tech after B.Tech. both are beneficial.. both of the course has lots of scope.. if you are interested in engineering then go for M.tech and if you are interested in medical science then go for MS. |

when you are doing master degree from india then it is known as m.tech and if the same degree is done from abroad then it is known as ms . the value of both are same but since you will get job in abroad after doing ms so it is better than m.tech as far as good salary is concerned.

Re: Difference between MS and M.Tech? Which one is more beneficial based on salaries, jobs and scope?
yaar for M.tech you have to give GATE which is in some manner tough to get good score. so most of the people dont prefer it and go outside of india and say that indian colleges are not good enough for M.tech but if you have abiliy, so crack GATE and go in IITs or NITs. and after all dont compare MS and M.tech, they both are good and one can get good salary after doing it.
best wishes for GATE aspirants.... |

Re: Difference between MS and M.Tech? Which one is more beneficial based on salaries, jobs and scope?
The basic misconception which everyone has is that when you do your masters from India, its called M Tech and when you do it from abroad it is called MS.... IT IS NOT LIKE THAT....
the basic difference between them is the type of study you do. In M Tech you have to study a lot of theoretical subjects. You have to work very hard. But in MS, the practical knowledge is more important. You have to concentrate on your project and gain as much knowledge as u can. You have to attend the classes regularly in MTech to understand all the theoretical aspects. Whereas in MS, more emphasis is given on the practical knowledge, so attending the classes is not a compulsion, but you have to tackle a very difficult project. -ANURAG |

Re: Difference between MS and M.Tech? Which one is more beneficial based on salaries, jobs and scope?
Hi,
Ms is the Masters you do from colleges which situated abroad like US,UK,Germany,Australia etc. You can do MS from India also. IITs are offering MS of three years duration. If we take MS from foreign universities there are considerable amount of advantages :: 1.Global exposure 2.Advanced technologies information 3.Research oriented study 4.More hands-on experience 5.Opportunity to interact with global level scholars and students 6.High Salaries 7.More corporate exposure If you do M.Tech from IITs in India that is regarded as far better than MS (if you are not from top universities). IIT people are getting abroad opportunities and high salaries like MS students. So if you are planning to do MS make sure you hit the right and top university. For M.Tech IITs and NITs are the best in India. All the best Vega Sridhar |
