Re: Do diploma in engineering students get less preference than engineering students?
Yes degree students get more preferred than the diploma students as they have studied engg in detail for more 3 to 4 years
But you dont need to worry. After you complete your diploma you can get direct admission to engg courses to 2nd year. In this way you will get diploma+degree which will make you more preferred than the engg degree gradutes Cheers |

Sorry, to say you all this but this is a fact. Yes, you right. Degree holder get more preference than diploma. Every where and every budy wants to become a degree holder because there is need of only degree holders. After 12 if any one have many diploma or certificates in various fields and have also very smart in their field, no one give value to them. They have to face only that why dont you done graduation in any stream. Now a days most of the companies demand masters. So, think that where is diploma holders stands. But we can do nothing about all this process. There is only value of degree. If you are very intelligent and dont have degree then you are nothing in front of degree holders. But you dont worry, this is my opinion and exprience about this matter. You can join any degree course directly after diploma. And i must say please do any degree course. GOODLUCK |

Re: Do diploma in engineering students get less preference than engineering students?
yes normal engineering students get more preference than diploma engineer because they study for 4 years regularly with detail but diploma holders get admission in 2nd year. So they miss one year. But don,t worry at the time of placement both are regarded as same.

Re: Do diploma in engineering students get less preference than engineering students?
Yes absolutely.....Engineering students are given the first/higher preference compared to Diploma students. But the fact is students who enter Engineering after doing Diploma are more knowledgeale and talented compared to Engineering students. This is because Diploma students are highly exposed to equipments and tests in practical basis whereas Engineering students are not that much exposed since they will be reading only theorywithout visualisation. So, you must feel happy if you are entering engineering as lateral entry after doing Diploma.

Re: Do diploma in engineering students get less preference than engineering students?
yes the diploma student will get less preference than engg. student because an engg. got the degree in his respective field and diploma student holds the diploma in his particular field. it would be better if you do engg. after diploma as for diploma there is a direct entry scheme in second year for diploma student.

Dear friends,
Yes, degree students get preference over diploma students. The degree holders also get higher salaries compared to diploma holders. But, you need not worry once u finish 1st year of diploma u can get a lateral entry to 2nd yr. year degree course. |

Re: Do diploma in engineering students get less preference than engineering students?
Off-course, degree holders are preferred over diploma holders.
The difference between the two is due to the course structure. The tenure of a degree course can be around 3-4 years based on the geographical location while one can complete a diploma within 1-2 years. A degree is generally conferred to a person by an accredited or recognized university whereas a diploma can be conferred to a person by any private educational or vocational institution or polytechnic. However Supreme court has clearly stated that there would not be any bias in the two in governmental sector, but in private sectors, degree holders always get preferred. |

Its a mindset that students in diploma are the leftouts whu dont get an engineering seat. Wel diploma is of 3 yrs but weras engineering is of 4yrs. So basically those whu study more has the preferenc. If ucomplet diploma and do anthr 3 yrz of engineering by dirct admission thru diploma seats in a college then ul be the preferable candidate. It is al on the quality and quantity of time u put in ur studies. GOOD LUCK. |

Re: Do diploma in engineering students get less preference than engineering students?
dear friend it is normal to give more preference to the b.tech engineering students.
bcoz it is a degree course with 1 year more than diploma course. they have studied everything in more detail . their syllabus is vast than yours. but u can also join b.tech through lateral entry examination. all the best. |

Re: Do diploma in engineering students get less preference than engineering students?
yes , it is right that the value of degree is more than diploma . But you know that today company want only professional . They do not want degree , they want people who have technical knowledge .
If you are good in computer language , and and able to work in software , then company prefer you first. So, improve your knowledge not a degree , i.e good for your future . |

Yes my friend degree holder get more preference then the diploma holders.
Actually the value of the degree holders are more in the market as they spent more time in their respective field compare to the diploma holders. Do not think about the value of the courses just do your study ,and my advice to you is to gather knowledge rather then these things. All the best. |

Re: Do diploma in engineering students get less preference than engineering students?
actually,if u r efficient;nothing else matters.....
Moreover, there is another plus point for diploma students as unlike degree students, they don't have to spend much money on your studies and if you are efficient enough;you'l get a superb placement and while doing the job,you can take b.tech i.e degree in engineering:) So,take a chill pill, stop worrying and study well coz in the end all that matters is whether you are efficient or not:) Anyways good luck guys:) Study well:) Peace:) |

yes companies do prefer B.E holders than Diploma holders, But they don't disclose it. And there are some companies which do not allow diploma holders to write the test.. I have experienced it.

Re: Do diploma in engineering students get less preference than engineering students?
I am extremely knowledgeable, if you think knowledge gets you a job in India, why to even do diploma. Go illiterate. You are misleading and wrong here. You are valued based on your qualification and not your knowledge. So stop faking and accept the realities. No degree no jobs or stay in a low paying job as a supervisor or a jr. Engineer taking commands from B. E. fresher.

Mukesh ambani was an illiterate. So why are you even doing Diploma? Just leave ur study and go to a company and ask for CEO position saying you are knowledgeable.

Re: Do diploma in engineering students get less preference than engineering students?
It's true upto certain extent but, these things are not that important. In real world, looking at knowledge and skills that adopted by diploma students, they are more likely to expose to their respective field earlier. They can apply for job (government positions also)after diploma course right away.
Diploma students already having rough idea of about subject that likely to teach in engineering institutes and are more familiar to them because they already learned most of the portion during diploma.Whereas, most of regular engineering student don't know anything about course or content of subjects. Diploma students having understanding and when they enter in engineering colleges things become more clear. Don't worry about preferences as it don't matter outside campus. You will learn things with time. |

Re: Do diploma in engineering students get less preference than engineering students?
Diploma students are better preferred than degree holders..if diploma students complete their engg after completion of diploma as they start their technical education fro diploma they will have good practical knowledge on the field rather than direct degree holders.
