Do I need to write any entrance exam for CID Officer?


Which entrance exam do I need to write for being a CID Officer? Is it SSC exam? Or, is it through UPSC examination? Can anybody please provide the details of exam which I need to write?

There are two ways to join as a CID officer. One is direct entry by getting promotion from state police department having qualification background of criminology or seniority request transfer. For that, you should have at least 2 years experience as a uniformed officer. Another one is through UPSC entrance exam after graduation.

CID Entrance Exam Eligibility
- You must be a citizen of India.
- You must be a graduate in any discipline from a recognized university.
- Your age must be between 20 years to 27 years of the examination year. Age relaxation applicable 3 years to OBC, 5 years to SC/ST candidates.
- Maximum allowable attempts : 4 for General, 7 for OBC and No limit for SC/ST candidates.

Selection Stages
- Written Test
- Physical Test
- Interview

Written Exam Pattern
- Exam is divided into two parts.

Part 1
- Total Marks : 200
- Duration : 2 Hours

- General Intelligence and Reasoning : 50 Marks
- General Awareness : 50 Marks
- Numerical Aptitude : 50 Marks
- English Comprehension : 50 Marks

Part 2
- Total Marks : 400
- Duration : 4 Hour

- Arithmetic Abilities : 100 Marks, 2 Hours
- English Language and Comprehension : 200 Marks, 2 Hours
- Interview : 100 Marks

Physical Requirements

Height : Minimum 165 cms for Male and 150 cms for Female.
Chest : At least 76 cms with expansion
Vision
Distant Vision - 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in another eye.
Near Vision - 0.6 in one eye and 0.8 in another eye.
