[COLOR="Red"]Hello Aspirant,

NET means national eligibility test.It is conducted by both University Grants Commission & CSIR,Council of scientific & Industrial Research jointly or independently.

It is conducted jointly for science Graduation i.e Engineering,Medical,earth science etc which is called CSIR-NET.The purpose of conducting this test is to select a eligible candidate for for JRF or for lectureship.If you compete JRF,you can be admitted in integrated Ph.D with scholarship of Rs.16000/per month for the first two years & then for 20000/per month for another three years.

If you qualify only NET,you are eligible for lectureship provided you fulfill the other criteria for lectureship laid down by UGC,i.e PG degree with 55% marks for general & OBC & 50% for SC/ST

If NET is conducted by only UGC,it is on the basis of post graduation degree with 55% marks for general & OBC & 50 % for SC /ST in any stream.

Age; Minimum 19 years & maximum 28 years for JRF & relaxation for OBC & ST/ST as per govt.norms.

No upper age limit for NET.

So,NET is for both Ph.D & lectureship.

Thanks & the best wishes.
