GATE in for doing M.tech and you dont have to learn Physics for qualifying GATE...You have to be strong in your Own branch subject...and mathematics and general apptitude....Syllabus is differnt for different branches and streams...

i want o do mtech in physics( optics) at one of the iit's or iisc becuse i am deeply intersted in it. hence i am writing gate physics. i want to know if getting a good score is enough to do m tech physics at iit. or do they have any other eligibility criteria( my b tech branch is electronics and instrumentation

Hello I came through this website www.physics4qualifiers.com. They are planning to start putting materials for GATE Physics from september. They also have a large collection of solved quality physics problems. You can give it a try. Hope this will help.

Unfortunately, the dates to apply for GATE 2012 are over and the only chance for you is to try for next years GATE, that is GATE2013. GATE is conducted is conducted on the 2nd sunday of February of every year. For which the notification is released in the month of September of the preceding year.
