Re: How to become a Chartered Accountant? What is the procedure? Eligibility to become a CA?
Quote:
Since the first stage of the Chartered Accountancy course is Common Proficiency Test, you will have to, first of all, enroll for the same and to be eligible, you must have passed secondary level of examination (matriculation). However, to take the test, qualifying 10+2 level of examination is mandatory. The Common Proficiency Test is not mandatory to the following category of candidates:
In order to become an associate member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and practice the profession, you will have to qualify all the aforementioned stages which includes Artcilceship Training of 3 years 6 months which one could undergo after completion of Integrated Professional Competence Course. The final examination can be written after completion of a minimum of three years of Articleship Training. For more information, refer to the official website of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. |

Re: How to become a Chartered Accountant? What is the procedure? Eligibility to become a CA?
Chartered Accountancy Course is India is offered by the Institutes of Chartered Accountants in India. Anyone who wants to become CA has to clar the course by ICAI.
The first step of the course is Common Proficiency Test (CPT). This exam has to be cleared to take admission for the second stage. Anyone who has completed 10th can register for the Common Proficiency Test. However he can only appear for the test once he has completed 12th standard. The graduates are given exemption from appearing if they meet the certain criteria. The commerce graduates should have 55 percent marks in the course. Non commerce graduates should have 60 percent marks. Otherwise it is important to appear for the Common Proficiency Test. There are two sections in the exam. 1. Fundamentals of Accounting and Mercantile Laws. 2. Economics and Quantitative Aptitude. You will have to score 30 percent in both the sections to clear this entrance exam. After which you can apply for the IPCC. Integrated Professional Competancy Course (IPCC) The Integrated Professional Competancy Course is the second stage of the Chartered Accountancy course. There are total of 7 subjects in it that are divided into 2 groups. The examination can only be taken once you have complete Common Proficiency Test and 9 months of IPCC study. Group 1 1. Accounting 2. Business Laws,Ethics and Communication 3. Cost Accounting and Financial Management 4. Taxation Group 2 5. Advanced Accounting 6. Auditing and Assurance 7. Information Technology and Strategic Management Articleship Once you have completed the Group 1 of the IPCC, you become eligible for the 3 years of mandatory Articleship. Final Course Once you have completed both groups of the IPCC and only 6 months are left for the Articleship, you can appear for the Final exam. Group 1 1. Financial Reporting 2. Strategic Financial Management 3. Advanced Auditing and Professional Ethics 4. Corporate and Allied Laws Group 2 5. Advanced Management Accounting 6. Information System control and Audit 7. Direct Tax Laws 8. indirect tax Laws |

I have passed common proficiency test soon after appearing for my 12th standard board exams. It was in the year 2009. Due to financial conditions i could not go further with IPCC. Am i still eligible for the course? Or i have to appear again for CPT. I m a graduate but with ATKT's.

Re: How to become a Chartered Accountant? What is the procedure? Eligibility to become a CA?
Once you are done with your Class XII Commerce steam examinations, one needs to appear for CPT exam (Common Proficiency Test) & on clearing that you are then supposed to clear IPCC exam & lastly the Finals. One must also take up Articleship compulsorily.
