DEAR CANDIDATE,

You can apply for the CDS exam after graduation.here are some details regarding CDS.CDS (COMBINED DEFENSE SERVICES):- The CDS exam is carried out by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) twice a year namely CDS I and CDS II.For CDS candidates minimum qualification required is graduation from a recognized university. candidates age should be in between 19 to 25years.candidate should be the citizen of India.candidate minimum height required is 157cm.
but dear candidate before that you can apply for NDA exam also.NDA (National Defense Academy):- The NDA exam is carried out by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) twice a year namely NDA I and NDA II. If you have done 12th then you can apply for NDA exam which is carried out by UPSC twice a year for NDA exam your age should be in between 16.5 to 19 years. for applying to navy you have to study the PCM subjects in your 12th. candidate should be unmarried. Candidate should be physically and mentally strong.

While pursing 12th examination , you are not eligible to apply for CDS examination because this examination is only for graduate candidates not for intermediate candidates . If you are interested in defence service then apply for NDA examination .

NDA Exam stands for National Defence Academy Examination and this examination is conducted by Union Public Service Commission twice in a year for recruitment of Army wings , Navy wings and Air force .

Army wings :- Intermediate (12th) with any desire subject or equivalent qualification there is no specific stream candidates .

Navy wings :- 12th with physics , chemistry and mathematics as subjects from a recognized School or equivalent qualification .

Air force wings :- 12th with physics , chemistry and mathematics as subjects from a recognized School or equivalent qualification .

This year NDA II notification was already released and it is available in the official website of Union Public Service Commission .

hi,as you mentioned you are in 12th u can apply for NDA,which is organised by upsc twice every year,
The forms are avlable in post offices.,
For cds you have to first complete your graduation with pcm with minimum 60% marks,
Cds is also held twice in a year.

first of all sorry to inform you that you are not applicable for cds exam. Because for cds exam candidate must be complete or appearing in final year of graduation.

i want to tell you eligibility for cds this will help you futher
cds exam is conduct by UPSC. UPSC conduct this exam twice in a year.
eligibility for this exam:

1. candidate should be graduate or appearing in final year of graduation from recognized university
2. age must be 19-24 years.
3. candidate should have physics and maths in 12th class

After completing 12th standard you are not eligible for CDS exam, because the minimum educational qualification is graduation.
So you are not eligible for CDS exam, if you are interested in defence service there is an another way for defence academy after 12th standard i.e NDA.

Full details about NDA:

NDA(National Defence Academy) exam is conducted by the UPSC(Union Public Service Examination) twice in every year.

NDA has three wings:

>>Indian airforce,
>>Indian army,
>>Indian navy.

Eligibility criteria:

Those candidates who are applying is to be complete 12th standard from any recognised state board of india

Only unmarried male candidates are eligible.

Candidate should be a citizen of india

Candidate must be physically fit.

Age criteria:

>>The candidate age should be in between 16.5 years and 19 years.

Selection procedure:

Written test,
SSB interview,
Medical test.

CDS Examination (I) – CDS Exam Eligibility 2011

(a) Nationality : A candidate must either be :

i. A Citizen of India, or

ii. A subject of Bhutan, or

iii. A subject of Nepal, or

iv. A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
v. A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.


Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.


Certificate of eligibility will, however, not be necessary in the case of candidates who are Gorkha subjects of Nepal.

A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary, may be admitted to the examination provisionally subject to the necessary certificate being given to him by the Government before declaration of result by UPSC.
