Candidates from any specialisation in graduation can appear for the Civil Service exam. So you can choose the stream you have interest in. Based on the specialisation chosen, you can start preparing for the civil service exam. You can select the same subjects for preparing for this exam. Along with this you also need to prepare for the aptitude test. Make sure you keep yourself updated in the general awareness section. You should read the newspaper daily. Also purchase year books to learn about the past events.

This is doubt that many of the people will get at the time of joining degree course of what stream to choose to become IAS Officer.
You can decide the stream yourself if you have enough information regarding the procedure to become IAS Officer. Let me provide you the same. In order to become IAS Officer, you should have to crack civil services examination being conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) every year. This is the common entrance exam for the candidates to be placed in various civil services like -Indian Administrative Service -Indian Police Service -Indian Revenue Service -Indian Foreign Service etc. The complete selection procedure will be by -Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) -Civil Services Main Examination -Interview. CSAT Exam will consists of questions from the following areas -General Awareness -General English -Aptitude You have to choose 2 optional subjects while registering for this exam and you have to take Main Examination on these two chosen optional subjects. As you are a candidate from Science stream, you might have gone through the following subjects -Botany -Zoology You scored 90% in your 12th class. This reveals that you are good enough with regard to subject knowledge. So, I suggest you to opt for Graduation in B.Sc with the following subjects -Botany -Zoology -Chemistry. Opt for the two optional subjects as Botany and Zoology. Start preparing for this exam from the 1st year of your Graduation course. Have good preparation for the Exam and crack it. For updated information regarding this Exam, I suggest you to visit http://upsc.gov.in/ |
