How to join M.Tech after qualifying GATE


i appeared for Gate this year. i qualified. i want to join for Mtech in the year 2012 only. i want to know if i should do anything to extend my Gate score.

I heard that 2 years validity is change to one year , is it so ?

I have cleared GATE. Now, University told me that your Normalize Gate score is less then qualified marks. So, you are not eligible. Is that true?
