i appeared for Gate this year. i qualified. i want to join for Mtech in the year 2012 only. i want to know if i should do anything to extend my Gate score.

GATE 2011 score is valid for TWO YEARS from the date of announcement of the GATE 2011 results hence you can definitely apply for counselling for both 2011 and 2012.

As per according to GATE the scorecard is valid for two years only. so your score card will be valid to take admission in any M.tech courses upto two years.
but i would like to know you that there is no limit for no of attempts in GATE exams.

So if you have appeared & got your GATE scorecard in the year 2011 then it will be valid till the year 2013.

Therefore, you are eligible to join Mtech course in 2012 based on your GATE 2011 score card.

Whether the candidate is in final year or in pre final
this card is valid for the 2 years.

Dear friend GATE SCORE is valid for 2 YEARS .

If you want to take admission next year then don't worry you can take admission next year if your score is good...........................

So you can apply for GATE in the penultimate year of your on gong course and apply for M TECH after you complete with your course duration.

the validity of GATE score card is two years. the result is published on 1kth March, 2011 so the validity of your score card till 14th March, 2013.


if you want to take admission in 2012 then there is no problem. obviously you may take admission based on your GATE 2011 score card.

but i will suggest you to appear in GATE 2012 also. because if you are able to make good score in GATE 2012 than GATE 2011 then it will be advantageous for you to take admission with GATE 2012 score card.


but unfortunately if you score low i GATE 2012 then also no problem. you will be able to take admission through GATE 2011 score card. so you should try once.

The GATE scores are valid for 2 years and there is nobreak on no of attempts. So students from 3rd year Engg. should also sit for GATE examination.

if you clear your gate paper at once it is valid only for 2 years

don't worry,your GATE 2011 score is valid for 2011 as well as for 2012 so no need to take up any trouble,you can easily take admission in 2012 as per your GATE marks..

GATE score is Valid for two years.

There is no restriction for attempts for GATE exam.

The eligibility criteria for GATE admission:-

(a) Bachelor’s degree holders in Engineering/Technology or its equivalent.

(b) Bachelor’s degree holders in Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Science/Electronics/ followed by qualifications obtained through an examination conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE.

(c) Bachelor’s degree holders in Architecture/Design (for M Des program only)

(d) Master’s degree holders in Physics with Electronics/Instrumentation (for M Tech programs).

The validity of GATE score is for two years .That means you have to utilize the score within two years .

GATE- Gratitude Aptitude Test in Engineering. Gate exam is conducted by Indian Institute of Technology.

* Gate exam score is valid for two years.
* There is no restriction for attempts in Gate exam. So you can attend as many you can.
* There is no restriction for age limit in Gate exam. So you can attend at any age.
* Candidates should be a graduate in Architecture or in engineering.
* Final year candidates can also apply for Gate exam.
* There is no minimum percentage criteria for gate exam.
