Merchant Navy deals in transportation of goods unlike the traditional navy which secures the coastal areas of a country. Since ancient times, sea trade has been very critical for global economy.

This hasn't changed even today. More than 90 percent of global trade is done via sea. And this is where Merchant Navy comes into picture.

After completing 12th there are couple of options for you regarding applying for job in Merchant Navy. However it is important that you have completed 12th with Physics, Chemistry and Maths.

Any other subjects would mean game over for you. What you can do is either continue with the studies after 12th or immediately apply for the job.

The decision depends on whether you are interested in studying further and if you want any job in Merchant Navy or only officer level jobs. It is worth mentioning that all the well paid jobs with additional perks are actually officer level jobs.

You can only apply for them if decides to continue with the studies. Here is what you will have to do.

You will apply for either B.Sc Nautical Science or the Marine Engineering course. Only these two courses can offer you officer level jobs.


Eligibility

1. Must have completed 12th with PCM.

2. Your age should be 20 or less to apply.

3. There is 5 years relaxation for SC and ST.

4. Candidate applying should be unmarried. It applies on male and female as well.

5. There are some physical criteria to meet.


Either you can apply for the B.Sc Nautical Science or Marine Engineering. The choice is yours. If you are not interested in continuing with the studies then apply for the deck cadet job after 12th.

If any company selects you, the next step will be 3 months long pre sea training. After that you will be selected for the job.

You can also do B.Tech in Mechanical/Technology/Electrical after 12th and yet apply for the officer level jobs. However you will first have to go through 9 months long pre sea course in Marine Engineering from MERI.

Is there any exemption in the score i mean if my pcm avergae is 58% instead of 60% is there any way out for me
