Sir i want to join the merchant navy and i have passed inter exam with47% in pcm and all over 53% how i join merchant navy,

You can join indian navy after 12thclass if you have physics, maths and chemistry combination.so as do join merchant navy..

but you must have scored more than 60% in PCM in 12th board...............

I think you are not eligible as per the criteria but you can join NAVY after completion of your graduation...

In merchant navy one can join as a deck cadet on board a ship and train on the job for three years. After the on-job training one has to appear for the competency examination, as required by the Union Ministry of Surface Transport, to be eligible to become a Navigation Officer.

The physical requirement:--
Minimum height of 157cms for men and 152 cms for women with correlated weight.
should not be color blind.

sorry dear but you can't join the merchant navy program because your percentage is very less at least 60% must be required in 12th to qualify for the Deck cadet program in merchant navy............sorry but it cant be possible...............but dont be dissapointed check out any universities whom give admission only just of 12th passed if there are ...but in my mind there is no merchant navy institutes offering degree having 12th percentage less than 60%........

If you fulfill with below mentioned criteria,then you can apply for NDA exam,if you qualify,you can join in Indian Navy.

Age should between 16 1/2 to 19 years

Pass with minimum 40% and 50% in English in 10th or 12th std or in the Degree Course conducted by the Board or any University.

Age::
Not exceeding 23 years on the date of commencement of training.

2} Selection Procedure:
Siroi Maritime Academy of Merchant Navy conducts a Basic Geneal Knowledge and current knowledge tests followed by an interview. . Personal Interview is to check the knowledge of G.k, Attitude, IQ, Communication Skill, Inter-Personal Skills etc . In my opinion you are not eligible as per the criteria but you can join NAVY after completion of your graduation.

Because To join in Merchant navy you have to scored more than 60% in PCM in 12th board.

Educational qualification: The minimum eligibility for courses in Nautical science and Marine engineering is 10+2 or an equivalent examination with physics, chemistry and mathematics. He should also pass a medical fitness test for sea service under standard norms and with eyesight 6/6 with no colour blindness.

Direct entry to Merchant Navy is also possible - students who have completed their 12th with PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) are eligible to join as Deck Cadets and a student holding a bachelor's degree in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Technology Engineering could also join the Merchant navy as a Engine Cadet/ Fifth Engineer/ Junior Engineer. Direct entry Deck Cadets are required to undergo basic pre-sea training arranged by the recruiting company itself and the direct entry Engineering cadets are preferred to do a Pre-sea course of 9 months duration in Marine Engineering conducted by the MERI.

So, my friend you are eligible to apply for merchant navy.. go for it.

After passing out from class 12th board you are eligible to join Merchant Navy only as a deck cadet. However the minimum qualification requirement for that is that you must be a student of science stream in class 12th with the subjects physics, chemistry and maths and you must have secured at least an aggregate of 60% marks in PCM. Only after that you will be eligible to join merchant navy as a deck cadet.

So you cannot join Merchant Navy after 12th just having secured 47% of aggregate marks in your class 12th board.

However, there is still a chance for you to be eligible to join navy. You can join Merchant Navy after completing your graduation only.

frend though u fulfill the subject criteria since u are from a science background but to appear for merchant navy u have to score min. 60% in +2 and as such i dont think u can apply.

Hey friend,

Merchant Navy is a naval fleet which involves transporting the cargo liners, tankers, carriers and passengers too.

You can be a part of Merchant navy by doing the courses like B.E Marine Engineering,M.E Marine engineering and B.sc Nautical science.

If you are specialized in any of these courses then you are eligible to be a part of Merchant navy.The posts which you could opt or concerned with merchant navy are the post of Deck, the Engine and the Saloon Department.

You can do the courses mentioned above if at all you have done your +2 from a recognized board with physics, chemistry and mathematics.

you are eligible to join for the Merchant Navy.
But to join this field you need to first clear the entrance exam.
There are many entrance exams like the IGNOU OPENMAT and also the IIT -JEE which are conducted for this purpose.
On clearing the test you need to go through an interview round.
Thereafter if selected you need to also undergo a physical fitness test.
It is must to clear the physical fitness test as you should show any sign of being sea sick.
Also it is a must to have a clear vision of 6/6.
On clearing these rounds you will need to undergo a 1 year pre sea training from institutes like LBS, MERI etc.
On clearing the pre sea training period you need to either join a Indian or Foreign shipping company.
In terms of renumeration the foreign shipping companies offer better pay scale.
