UPSC civil services exam will allow you to become an IPS officer. It has multiple choice questions, descriptive-type questions, and also an interview. Hence, if you are looking to take this exam you need to be overall prepared for all three stages. First of all, you need to be a graduate with minimum 50% marks, and then you will be able to appear for it.

First stage: Preliminary Exam (Multiple Choice Questions)
Second Stage: Mains Exam (Descriptive Paper)
Third Stage: Interview

For IPS officers there will be training after selection which is very tough and you need to be physically prepared for it.

To become an I.P.S officer, you will have to appear and qualify in Civil Service examination. The examination is conducted by UPSC.

The required eligibility to apply for the examination is that candidate must have passed bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognised university.
