UPSC conducts the exam for the aspirants who wish to do service in the administrative field. One need to satisfy certain basic requirements if he / she wish to apply for the exam.
1. The aspirant must have completed his bachelor degree from any stream of his /her interest.
2. One can appear for the exam if the aspirant has completed 21 years of age.
3. The upper age limit is restricted to 30 for aspirants of general category . and for obc category it is33. For sc and st the age relaxation is five years and can apply upto 35 years of age.
3. The eligible aspirant can attempt the exam only a limited time within the upper age limit.
For general category the number of attempts is restricted to maximum of 4.
For obc category the maximum number of attempts is 7.
There is no restriction on the number of attempts for sc and st.
One is considered to have attempted if attempt is made in aptitude exam though didn't clear it.
The selection process involves
written exam and
personnel interview.
The written exam includes aptitude test followed by the main exam.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR IAS EXAM

This exam is conducted by UPSC in once time in year.

Those candidate are graduate from any recognized university with any discipline are eligible for IAS exam.

But your age should be in between 22 to 30 years old.Age relaxation is provide for SC/ST/OBC category as per govt rule.

The maximum attempts for SC/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.

Also you must be in citizen in India.

Optional subjects for IAS main exam:

Economics , Electrical Engineering,Geography, Geology ,History, Law,Management,Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Science, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science and International Relations, Psychology, Public Administration, Sociology,Statistics, Zoology, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Anthropology,Botany, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Commerce and Accountancy.

You can choose the subject in sense of your strength .

The IAS selection process is consist in three way

1)Preliminary exam
2)Main exam
3)Inter View.

Hi Friend,

The Civil Services Exam rules govern the number of times that a candidate can sit for the IAS exam. For the IAS - the candidate needs to appear for the Civil Services Exam.

According to the UPSC guidelines, every candidate appearing for the examination is permitted four (4) attempts at the examination.

The number of attempts permissible to candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes (as defined) are seven (7).

The number of attempts do not apply in the case of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

Please NOTE: An attempt at a Preliminary Examination is considered an attempt. If the candidate appears for any one paper of the Preliminary Examination - this is considered to have made an attempt.

Hello friend,
If you belong to General category, you can write the exam for a maximum of 4 times.
If you belong to OBC category, you may write the exam for a maximum of 7 times.

If you belong to SC/ST category, there is no such restriction which means you may write as many times as you need.

The maximum age limit to appear for the exam are as follows:
General category- 30 years
OBC category- 33 years
SC/ST category- 35 years.

For general category no. of possible attempts are Four and Seven attempts for OBC category and no limit for SC/ST category

Indian Administration Service exam is held once in year, this exam is part of Civil service exam and exam is conducted by UPSC.

Eligibility criteria for IAS exam:
Candidate should have complete graduation degree with any stream from a recognized university.
Age should be between 21 to 30 years for General category candidates,21to 33 year for OBC category candidates,21 to 35 years for SC/ST category candidates

Number of attempts:
4 attempts for General category candidates.
7 attempts for Obc category candidates

IAS Stands for Indian Administrative Service And to become IAS Officer, You have to cracked the UPSC Civil services examination. This examination is Conducted by UPSC Every year.

IAS Examination Information.

Indian Administrative Service (IAS) examination is also known as the civil services exam which is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in every year. Eligibility and Number of Attempts For IAS

In order to become an IAS officer..one needs to clear the Civil Service Exam which is conducted every year by the UPSC..

You should have the following minimum qualifications for appearing in this exam..

1) You should be within the age limit of 21-30 years if you are a general candidate,21-33 years if you are OBC and 21-35 years if you are SC/ST

2) You should be a graduate or a final year graduation student from a UGC or AICTE approved University..

I.A.S means Indian Administration Service.
