Karnataka State Open University is recognized by-

->The Distance Education Council (DEC) New Delhi,
->Regular member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), Delhi,
->Permanent member of Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) London UK,
->Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU), Beijing, China,
->And also has association with Commonwealth of Learning (COL).

If you planning to take admission in Karnataka State Open University then you may take admission. This university is a very well known open university. This may not be approved by AICTE still it is good enough. Always it is not true that if institution is approved by AICTE then it will be very good institution.

Open Universities offers courses through distance/correspondence mode and as per the guidelines of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), courses apart from Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Computer Applications (MCA) offered through modes other than regular mode shall not be recognized by the council.

Karnataka State Open University is recognized and approved by the following regulatory bodies but is not recognized by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE):

• University Grant Commission (UGC)
• Distance Education Council (DEC)

Karnataka State Open University(KSOU), Mysore was established on 1st June 1996 with Karnataka Govt.It is the 8th open university established in India.

Karnataka State Open University is approved by UGC but KSOU is not approved by AICTE .
