Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) is recognized by the following bodies:

• University Grant Commission
• Distance Education Council

As per the guidelines of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Technical Program offered through distance mode, apart from MCA and MBA shall not be approved by the council. Hence, the programs offered by Karnataka State Open University is not approved by All India Council for Technical Education.
