In parallel circuit, potential drop across each device is same/equal. In a house,there are devices which have different amount of current requirement to operate, so that's why parallel circuit is the best option for house circuits.
One more reason ,if one device fail to perform ,then it will not affect other devices . But in series,if one devices fails to perform,then all the devices succeeding in the circuit ill not work.
