NET stand for National Eligiblity Test and this examination is conducted by UGC Twice in a year.The examination is generally done in the month of June and December every year.Only those students who have done post graduation can apply for the exams.

ELIGIBLITY

Those students who have got master’s Degree with 55% from universities recognised by UGC you can apply for the examination

Final year students are also take the exam.

Age limit ::

For Junior Research Fellowship - You should be not more than 28 years. A relaxation upto 5
years is provided to SC, ST and for OBC candidates.

For Lectureship - There is no upper age limit for applying for lectureship.

Important dates :

Application Submission Start Date : 29-3-2012
Application Submission End Date : 25-4-2012
Last date for receiving the documents at the test center: 2-5-2012
Examination Date : 26-6-2012

Pattern of the examination :

This time the examination is of objective types .The Test will consist of three papers of only objective type questions .

The three papers will be conducted in two session.

Paper I :Will contain the following questions :

Reasoning ability
Comprehension
Divergent thinking
General awareness.

Paper II and Paper III will be based on the optional subjects chosen by the candidates .

UGC NET EXAM (Scope and Details)



The National Educational Testing Bureau of University Grants Commission (UGC) conducts National Eligibility Test (NET) to determine eligibility for lectureship and for award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for Indian nationals in order to ensure minimum standards for the entrants in the teaching profession and research.

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) conducts the UGC-CSIR NET for other Science subjects, namely, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Earth Atmospheric Ocean & Planetary Sciences jointly with the UGC.



Exam Routine:
The tests are conducted twice in a year generally in the months of June and December.

NOTE :
  • For candidates who desire to pursue research, the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) is available for five years subject to fulfillment of certain conditions.
  • UGC has allocated a number of fellowships to the universities for the candidates who qualify the test for JRF.
  • The JRFs are awarded to the meritorious candidates from among the candidates qualifiying for eligibility for lectureship in the NET.
  • JRFs are available only to the candidates who opt for it in their application forms.

Well, Recently One of my Professors at My College told thet The NET has Extended its scope to B.E /B.Tech as Well. Which means any Under Graduate can Apply for this Exam with Just a B.Tech Degree.

Please Note: The Minimum eligibility is that the Candidate must have Secured 80% Throughout the Year, i.e., Min. of 80% in all Eight Semesters.
