MDS in maxillofacial surgery

I am doing DMD (BDS) right now in a university in dubai. I Have scored 68% in my 10th and 75 in my 12th. Is there an actual MDS in Maxillofacial surgery. Because in foreign countries the procedure is quite different. Also after my DMD can i do the MDS in max-facio because i have read that you also need an MBBS degree. Please Do answer .

Hello friend,
See BDS is related to dental science, so from dental to maxillofacial transformation is quite different.
If you want to do maxillofacial course from BDS is not possible in india atleast you can confirm it from any other university around the world.
thank you!!!!

Well, in India the eligibility for pursuing MDS in Oral and Maxillofacial
Surgery is BDS (and not MBBS); but then, your BDS degree should be from a
University recognised by the Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India.
As an applicant for this course, you also need to complete your 12 months
compulsory Rotating Internship/Practical Training before commencement of the course.

Dear friend,

BDS is related to Dental Surgery and MDS is its Master degree.

Maxilofacial Surgery it is the surgery for injuries and defects in the head, neck, face, jaws and the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial regions .

Maxillofacial surgeons are actually qualified in dentistry(such as BDS,BDent, DDS, or DMD etc) and have undergone further surgical training.

There are some institutions world wide such as :
Royal College of Surgeons of England,
Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh,
Royal College of Dentists of Canada,
Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons

In India there is a very good college for MDS in Oral & maxillofacial Surgery

Al-Ameen Dental College, Bijapur, Karnataka

To take admission in this college
1:You should have the Graduate degree in Medicine (BDS) from any University recognized by the Medical Council of India(MCI).

2:you should complete the Rotating compulsory Internship of one year in an Institution recognized by the Dental Council of India(DCI)

3:You should have a permanent Registration of any State Dental Council(SDC).

4:You have to sit in State PG Entrance Exam

for details about the institution visit http://www.alameenmedical.org

Good luck.

yes you can apply for mds (maxillofacial) training in India as a NRI candidate..no restriction on that unless you had BDS qualified.

I want to pursue a Masters in Maxillofacial Surgery in UK or USA or NewZealand or Australia. Can U please tell me the best Universities in any of the above countries(preferably in that order) to do the masters degree? Also, is there any other University,in any other country which is the best to do Masters in Maxillofacial surgery? Please do let me know. Kindly awaiting reply. Thanks :)
