it is not fixed that what would be the minium marks needed to get into nit. but one thing for shore if you manage to get a rank in between 20000 then u can get admssion easily in nit. the minium cutoff for each year vary.

OBC 35 marks
sc 20 marks(apporx)
this year the paper was a bit simple than the previous year and the expected cutoff for2012 is
GE (60-70) , obc (45-55) ,sc(25-35)
if u manage to get above (110-150)marks you can easily move your steps forwward towards nit.BEST OF LUCK FOR YOUR BETTER FUTURE.

i had scored 198 marks in gate exam and i am from sc category. Could i get admission in any nit? If yes then in which?

go to http://www.ccb.nic.in & click on "Opening & Closing Rank for AIEEE - 2011" . You can get previous year cut off mark of all institutes of India.

Sir i got qualify mark in aieee i belong to sc category do i have a chance to get seat in civil group in any nit

you must score more than 50% in pcm to get it into the nit!
in terms of marks the minimum marks for nit are
general-
more than 200
for st,sc ,pd-
more than 100
