National Institute of Technology Puducherry, Karaikal
NIT Puducherry will start functioning temporarily at the premises of Arignar Anna Government Arts College from July 20th and MHRD has designated NIT- Trichy as the mentor institution for NIT Puducherry, Karaikal.NIT, Karaikal will be mentored by NIT, Trichy for at least two or three years until NIT, Karaikal campus is constructed.
Infrastructure or campus:
The government of Puducherry has identified the acquisition for about 300 acres for the NIT, Karaikal which will be established in the revenue village of Thiruvetakudi and Poovam in the region of Karaikal.The construction of the college will be completed within a period of 6 years and they will be provided with an amount of 20 crores each year for the construction work.
Courses offered:
In the initial years, NIT, Karaikal will be offering undergraduate courses in three disciplines.
B.Tech in:-
• Electrical and electronics engineering
• Computer science and engineering
• Electronics and communication engineering
Admission procedure:
A candidate must have cleared his 10+2 with not less than 60 percent of marks. However this is not the only criteria as AIEEE rank is also taken into consideration at the time of admission. NIT, Karaikal allows the intake of 30 seats in each branch i.e. total of 90 seats. Out of which, 50% of the seats are reserved for the students of Puducherry and Andaman’s. Rest 50% seats are reserved for the students across the country, admitted on the basis of merit.
Placement:
NIT, karaikal students will be provided with excellent placement service and the institute will be inviting plenty of firms to give job opportunity to its students.
