VAO Exam Details:-

** VAO stands for Village Administrative Officers. To recruit these officers an examination is conducted by the Tamilnadu Public Service Commission. The notifications for this exam is published in two parts. One for the SC/ST candidates and the next one for all the other categories.

** To give this you need to have secondary school leaving certificate to give this exam. Although this is the minimum qualification required but even if you have higher qualifications then also you need to show this certificate to be considered eligible.

** While applying for this exam your age should not be less than 21 years. The upper age limit is 30 years for general category candidates. For reserved category candidates it is 40 years.

** On getting selected you will be posted in the villages of Tamilandu. So to avoid communication problem you need to know Tamil language

** You can give the exam even if you do not know the language properly. But in that case on getting selected you will be asked to sit for the Tamil language exam which is also conducted by the TNPSC and you have to pass in it.

** Only physically fit candidates are expected to give this exam. So to prove your medical fitness you will be asked to show medical certificates to the authorities concerned during exam time.

** The selection procedure is primarily based on the written examination. Other factors which are considered are the district chosen by you and the number of reservations of the district in question.

** For the exam you will get questions from general knowledge and general tamil/general english. 150 marks each have been allotted for each paper and you will get three hours to complete the whole paper. There will be 200 questions to answer and all of them will be of S.S.L.C. standard.

** Cost of the application forms is Rs. 150 and for reserved category candidates it is Rs. 50. This year's exam is due in September and the results will come out in November and by December the interview sessions will start.

If you have 12th standard OR graduation degree then you are applicable for VAO exam but you age should be in between 21 to 30 years old.Age relaxation is provide as per govt rule But you must know the Tamil language.

If you take a look upon the detailed advertisement of this exam them you will get to know that the most important part of the selection process is written examination .The written examination details are following -

There will be a paper of 3 hours which will consist of two sections, carrying 100 questions and 150 marks each -

1. General Studies

2. Tamil/English ( You may select any language )
