Re: MSc in microbiology, good for Income?
Hello mrinmay
your query at first instance gives a bit shock as it seems from your post that you are doing msc microbiology not because of your interest but just for earning good money. I know that all of us want to earn good money but you can give your 100% only at that place where you have some interest as in work.So if you have interest and enjoy studying microbiology only then i would suggest you to go for it. |

Re: MSc in microbiology, good for Income?
Microbiology is a broad field that includes the study of viruses as well as microscopic organisms found in all kingdoms of life: plants, animals, protists, fungi, and bacteria. Some microbiologists specialize in one type of microorganism. For example, bacteriologists concentrate on bacteria and virologists study viruses.
Microbiologists are biological scientists who study organisms so small that, generally, they can only be seen with a microscope. These microorganisms include bacteria, algae, yeasts, fungi, protozoa, viruses, and other microscopic forms of life. Microbiologists isolate and make cultures of microorganisms, identify their characteristics, and observe their reactions to chemicals and other kinds of stimuli. They also study how microorganisms develop and reproduce as well as their distribution in nature. So,we can say that it is better from earning point of view also. Best of luck. |

Re: MSc in microbiology, good for Income?
being a veteran in this field I can only wish good luck to fellows who are studying passionately, a lot of difficulties in this field, it hasn't grown as expected in last 10 years, there are only a few straight jobs one an apply for after doing MSc, after PhD things change a bit in the research field but the overall scenario is still very gloomy........
foreign companies generally don't take MSc microbiologists from india for their overseas factories, for starting one can try in bangalore, buddi, dehradoon, gangtok, goa and some places in Gujrat..... but for freshers salary and increment rate both will be very poor |
