Re: Which mughal emperor changed his capital from Agra to delhi?
For the first time it was Sultan Sikandar Lodī who moved his capital from Delhi to Agra in the year 1506.
The first Mughal emperor to crown AGRA as capital of mughal empire, was Akbar in the year 1526. The capital of mughal empire was changed from Agra to Delhi by Shah Jahan in the year 1638. The tenure of Shah Jahan was 1628-1658 A.D. |

Quote:
You can get the answer in any General Knowledge book in the History part. The answer is Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. He shifted his capital from Agra to Old Delhi (traditionally known as Shahjahanabad) on 19 April 1638. Though somewhere it is written that he moved his capital in the year 1649. He reigned from 1628 to 1658. Shah Jahan's reign is also known as Golden Age of Mughal Era. |
