Opportunities in Ph.D after M.Tech? Take up Ph.D or M.Tech in Solid State Physics in IIT?

Hi,

I am currently pursuing M.Sc Physics. I have a dilemma whether to go for Ph.D or take up M.Tech in Solid State Physics in IIT as the subject is of my interest.

What is the oppurtunity with Ph.D after completing M.Tech

By pursuing PH.d you will be going into a research area. You will be researching in the selected area of the subject. MTech is a master degree where you will learning about various areas in the subject selected. If you are interested in the research area then PHd. is the best. If you pursue an MTech degree and then PHd. degree you will learnt about the various areas in the subject and will know which specific area you will like to specialise in.

hi
after you Ph.D , u hav a chance to become a scientist in varies science research instuties and private company,,, both in india and abroad,,,
but you have to such more time and hard work,, job opportunities in company are very less..but there so much of on going , money earning project are going on ,, so it has a good scope in future
M.Tech in Solid State Physics in IIT -also have a good scope after that ,, u hav to apply for a any teaching post in university , now a days it has a high recuitment in education instutions

I don't think its of any use to have two masters degrees. Its better you join IIT for doing PhD.D.
Its a better option. And you specialize and undertake research in your favorite subject of Solid State physics at PhD level.

Once you are done with PhD then you can become a scientist and can get a good job.

The prospectus for physics people after PhD is really good.

Just think about your doctorate degree. You will definitely get good job after PhD.

All the Best

I did M.Tech from IIT in solid state physics
I never recommend anyone to do M.Tech if you have basic science background.
You will get job in Private Engg college Only.. Not worth at all
Better join PhD atleast you will be able to complete your education.
I know my other batch mates few got enrolled for PhD after M.Tech in IITs and few lucky went abroad
But Few still struggling to get PhD position because we opted to work for Private engg college.
Luckily now iam getting few good oppertunities from abroad for PhD.( After Lot of struggle)

If you want to go aboad for PhD give GRE and TOEFL no need to do M.Tech
If you want to join IIT then go for PhD
