VAO stands for Village Administrative Officers which is conducted by TNPSC.

If you have 12th standard OR graduation degree then you are applicable for VAO exam but you age should be in between 22 to 30 years old.Age relaxation is provide as per govt rule But you must know the Tamil language.

Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission conducts the examination for the post of Village Administrative Officer. The exam is popularly known as TNPSC VAO Exam. To give this examination there are certain eligibility criteria which you need to satisfy. Some of them have been listed below:

~Educational Qualification:

To sit for the VAO Exam you need to have a secondary school leaving certificate or its equivalent from a recognized school or institution. Basically if you have minimum general qualification then only you can apply.

However candidates with even higher qualification will also be considered provided they have the SSLC certificate otherwise not. The minimum qualification required therefore is SSLC.

~Age limit:

Irrespective of what your category is, while giving this examination your age should not be less than 21 years. The upper age limit for the general category candidates is 30.

For the reserved category candidates there is age relaxation. The upper age limit for SC/ST candidates is 40.

~Selection Procedure:

The selection procedure is solely based on the written examination. Therefore this examination cannot be taken casually at all. You should try your best to score as high marks as possible to ensure you get selected. Because even if you manage to get the qualifying marks somehow, final selection will be based on the average marks got by the top students. Thus your name then may or may not feature over there.

~Examination Pattern:

The written examination comprises of one paper only and questions generally comes from the following sections: General Knowledge and General English/ General Tamil. To complete the paper you will get only three hours and total marks alloted is 300. To qualify you need to get minimum 90 marks out of 300. SSLC standard questions are generally asked.

~Pay-Scale:



~You should be well versed in tamil and they may ask you to produce physical fitness certificate because it is expected that you will be physically fit during the examination.
