Minimum Eligibility For IAS


Graduation from recognized university
Basic fitness level.
Age limit - 21 to 30 years

(Relaxation for SC/ST/OBC)

There is no requirement of minimum marks in Graduation and in 10th and 12th class.

You should have cleared all level of Examination (Graduation ,10th ,12th class)
from recognized board /university

or

You should have scored at least minimum passing marks in all level of examination (Graduation ,10th ,12th class).

There are 3 stages in IAS .


Preliminary exam (Objective Type Exam)
Main exam (Descriptive Type Exam)
Personal Interview

If you fulfill all the basic requirement set by UPSC for IAS than first you will appear for first stage that preliminary stage and if you clear the preliminary level you will be able to fulfill the second level that is main level of IAS examination.

Pattern of Preliminary Examination is Given below

There is no bar in marks for the IAS examination. If you are a graduate then you are eligible to apply for this examination. For the post of IAS you have to apply for the civil service examination. To become eligible for the IAS examination you just need to pass class 12th examination followed by Graduation from a recognized institution. There is no any specific marks criteria are specified for the the examination. If you have passed class 12th examination and Graduation and if your age is between 21 years to 30 years then you can sit in the examination.
The IAS examination conducted by the UPSC every year. Next notification for the IAS examination will be out in the month of February. Check that.

Eligibility criteria for IAS exam is..

::Eduacational Qualification::

Graduation with 50% in any stream from a recognize university or college.
Final Year student can apply

::Age limits::

For General :
Should Between 21 to 30 years

For OBC :
Should Between 21 to 33 years

For SC/ST :
Should Between 21 to 35 years

For Physically challenged:
Should Between 21 to 40 years

3. No. of attempt 4times OBC 7times abs ST/SC no limit.

Percentage Required For IAS


Civil Service Exam is conducted every year by UPSC(Union Public Service Commission)

A candidate is eligible to appear for the Civil Services if the candidate fulfills the following conditions :-

>> Candidate must be within the age limit of 21-30 years, 21-33 years if OBC and 21-35 years if SC/ST..

>> Candidate must be either a final year graduation student or must have completed graduation from a recognized University..

>> General candidates have 4 attempts, OBC have 7 attempts and SC/ST/PD candidates have no limit..


There is no percentage requirement neither in 12th nor in graduation..you just need to pass..

The written exam is conducted in 2 stages :-

>> Civil Service Aptitude Test(CSAT) which is conducted with the help of 2 objective papers..

>> Mains conducted with the help of 9 subjective papers..

After you clear the Mains..you will be called for the final interview..

The IAS Exam is actually known as the Civil Service Exam conducted every year by the UPSC..

Candidates must satisfy the following conditions in order to appear for the exam :-

>> Candidate must be within the age limit of 21-30 years, 21-33 years for OBC..21-35 years for SC/ST and 21-40 years for PWD candidates..

>> candidate must have completed graduation from a recognized institute..or must be a final year candidate..

There is no percentage requirement either for 12th or for graduation..

But in order to appear for this exam you need to atleast complete your graduation..

The Preliminary Exam will test you on the basis of general awareness and aptitude..with the help of 2 objective papers..

The candidates who clear the Prelims will be eligible for the Mains which will test you based on 9 subjective papers based on optional subjects and English..

The Civil services Examination is conducted every year for the selection of candidates as IAS Officers.

This exam is most commonly known as the IAS Exam.

The Union Public Service Commission conducts the prestigious Civil Services Examination.

The Qualifications Required for Civil Services examination are :

you must be a citizen of India.


From the above mentioned , you can see that there is no where mentioned that there is any specific marks in required for either 12th or graduation.

Only Pass in graduation from any university recognized by UGC is required.
