In most competitive exam, recruitment is on the basis of merit.
If entire batch does it well or if the question paper seems to be easy, cut off would shoot up and if question paper is bit difficult, cut off would come down.

In most cases you do know your marks but you wont be able to get information like what the cut off marks where.

many times marks are given on various components such as written exam, GD, PI, extra curricular. Final merit is formed after summing up each components. So it is highly possible that one may have not highest in written exam but still not on the top on merit because of low marks in other components.

So in short, its difficult to estimate cut off marks. Just give your best.
