Re: Should I do M.Tech after B.Tech if I want to become an IAS officer? Where should I take coaching for IAS exam?
Hello Divyanshu,
It is good to know that you have determined that you want to crack the IAS exam. But for that you need not necessarily take up the M.Tech course. You first have to go through the syllabus of the exam carefully and then study the topics accordingly. Just make strong the facts like reasoning, or aptitude sections that are very important to crack the exam as this is one of the most toughest competitive exams. To have sound preparation you can take help of different study materials available for IAS both from the internet and from the book world. Rest depends on you what you think good... Good luck!! |

According to the eligibility criteria you just need to be a Graduate to go through the CSAT examination.Since you have pursued your B.tech course hence your eligible for the CSAT examination. You can even go through the CSAT examination even after completing your M.Tech which will be important for other career options.
First of all just go through the Syllabus Part of the Preliminary and Mains. If you find any difficulty in the syllabus part then you can go through the Training procedure.Prefer standard books of NCERT,Goyal Brothers Prakashan of both CBSE and ICSE(Class 9th and 10th).Refer the above books for subjects like History and Civics,Geography. Some of the coaching centers in Ghaziabad are:- Zenith Academy Shikhar Academy National Career Academy Sreshtha IAS Academy You can go through the training procedure only when you find it tough going through the self study procedure. |

If your aim is to crack the IAS, then no need to go for M.Tech.
Because graduation degree itself makes you eligible for IAS exam. For, IAS one need to go through a civil services examination conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission). The selection procedure will be by -CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test) -Civil Services Main examination -Interview. As per the eligibility criteria, one should have graduation from a recognized university. -One should be in the age group of 21-30 years to be eligible. Be good enough in general awareness or current affairs which are a part of CSAT exam. |

Hi iam Ashwanth working in Accenture at present . I have done my b.tech in I.T. ,I wish to be an IAS officer . I fear of optional subjects literally confused what to take exactly even if iam through in prelims. Because no subject could relate to my stream. Civil service aspirers come from Arts & Other backgrounds in which they master,I feel. Can i learn as much as them who took their graduation subjects for civils.
