ACIO Grade II which means Assistant Central Intelligence Officer is a Grade C level job in the Intelligence Bureau, India's internal intelligence agency. Intelligence Bureau was the first intelligence agency of India which was orginaly established by the British Empire during its rule.


It was only after 1947 that India officially took over the Intelligence Bureau and thrusted the responsibility of gathering external and internal intelligence. However the move was disasterous because of lack of manpower in IB as the result of British walkout.

The result was embarrasing performance by Intelligence Bureau in the India China and India Pakistan War in 60s. The agency paid the price for that and the external intelligence wing was taken away from it and given to the new agency called R&AW. Since then Intelligence Bureau has become India's internal intelligence agency.

Since then IB's primary role has been gathering intelligence against Pakistan sponsored terrorism and other terrorist organizations that have grown inside India. IB is active in bordering areas especially Kashmir where the threat of terrorism is quite high.


There are various posts in Intelligence Agency which includes Field Agents for which only candidates from IPS and Indian Army are selected. However this is not the job discription of the ACIO Grade II officer. The responsibility of ACIO is not properly known however it is believed to be related to sharing information with local authorities and tracking emails etc.

To become ACIO Grade II officer, candidate is required to appear in entrance exam. Below are the details regarding the exam.

>>>> Eligibility <<<<

>> Candidate should be Indian citizen.

>> The age limit is 27 years for ACIO Grade II.

>> There is 3 years relaxation for the OBC candidates.

>> Five years relaxation is given to SC/ST candidates.

>> A minimum of graduation degree is required for appearing in ACIO Grade II Exam.
