Re: Which subjects should I choose as optional for IAS exam after MBBS?
Hello Swapnil,
The civil service exam comprises of two written exams: Preliminary Exam Main Exam The Preliminary Exam, now also known as Civil Service Aptitude Test (C.S.A.T) comprises of two compulsory papers. There is no provision for optional paper in the C.S.A.T. The Main Exam comprises of both compulsory and optional papers. Following are the subjects from which you may pick any two subjects as optional papers. Agriculture Mathematics, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Mechanical Engineering, Botany, Medical Science, Chemistry, Philosophy, Civil Engineering, Physics, Commerce,Political Science ,Economics ,Psychology Electrical Engineering Public Administration, Geography, Sociology, Geology, Statistics, Indian History, Zoology,Law. You can not select the following combination of subjects as optional papers: Political Science & International Relations and Public Administration Commerce and Management Anthropology and Sociology Maths and Statistics Agriculture and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science Management and Public Administration Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science and Medical Science Any two branches of engineering Since you have done MBBS, the subject of expertise is medical science. Now apart from it, you will need to select one more subject for your optional paper. The most preferred optional paper for candidates belonging to different streams is Sociology. The syllabus of the Sociology is short, compared to other subjects and is scoring too. So, you can either select sociology or any other subject, you think, you are comfortable with. |

you should give the max importance to your interest because you have to spend a lot of time in studying your selected subjects if you don't have interest in what you have selected then it will become mere waste in ..you will be suffered with boredom so don't listen anyone's suggestion go through the syllabus and topics of each and every optional select the subject in which you are most attracted and have a 80% interested topics in the syllabus this is how you have to select the optionals this should be your target and you have to rock the preparation time interestingly not boringly so if you are interested only select optional even every one says it is the toughest one .. these are all the opinions of me,my friends who are preparing for the same Take the guidance of successful and unsuccessful candidates One simple suggestion for you is As your degree is of MBBS you can select the optionals which are related to your field if you are interested only no compulsion All the best for your selection Regards ~AdityA~ |

Re: Which subjects should I choose as optional for IAS exam after MBBS?
as you have mentioned that you are the medical student.
in ias preliminary and in main exam there is the paper named as optional subject. there you can select one subject of your choice. as you are the medical student you are better known of the medical subjects. if you select the medical subject then there is chance of scoring marks can be increased as you are mbbs student i am suggesting some optional subjects relating to medical science to you 1) botany 2) zoology 3) medical science these are the optional subjects for the preliminary exam now the following subjects are the optional subjects for the main exam in the main exam the two papers of the above mentioned subjects are taken. like for botany there will be exam like botany paper 1 and botany paper 2. there is no need of confusion to select the optional subjects , just select the subject of your interest and the subject in which you suppose yourself confident. best luck for the future thanks |

Re: Which subjects should I choose as optional for IAS exam after MBBS?
Now you study the 12th standard with subjects like Physics, Maths and Chemistry. The aspirants must score at least 65% of marks in HSC (10+2). After 10+2, aspirant can go for engineering or bachelor’s degree in Biological or physical science or mathematics. For getting admission into the graduation, you should clear certain tests. Some of them are IIT-JEE, AIEEE etc. NASA, ISRO, or other institutions hold various entrance tests. Only well knowledgeable students can clear these exams. The job is a challenging one. However, you can earn well in this field.
