If I'm right you want to become IAS officer , if yes,Very good decision in deed.I will try to clarify your query with clarity. Now coming to the UPSC Civil Service exam it is conducted for the young guns across from the country in order to keep harmony and peace among the states and world the UPSC recruits the personnel into Central government administrative department. for administering with professional ethics. As we know the examination is very tough. The reason for it is very simple . for a few aspirants it is very tough to sustain interest on a particular thing for years . it seems very tough for the general aspirants who just want to give a try. but it is not difficult for the one who has strong aspiration to become a civil servant. In this long examination pattern that is 1 to 1 and half year pattern you need to have high concentration and interest levels. then only you can see your dreams in reality. In the second level exam you need to attempt two optional papers along with the General studies. for this optional subjects has to be selected from this optional list. ->Agriculture ->Management ->Animal Husbandry & Vetinary Science ->Mathematics ->Anthropology ->Mechanical Engineering ->Botany ->Medical Science ->Chemistry ->Philosophy ->Civil Engineering ->Physics ->Commerce & Accountancy ->Political Science & International Relations ->Economics ->Psychology ->Electrical Engineering ->Public Administration ->Geography ->Sociology ->Geology ->Statistics ->Indian History ->Zoology ->Law you have to select any two optional according to your background and interest. it is important to select subjects of your background its completely your wish to do so. something that is related to your background is Medical science so have a look at it. if possible take that as one optional then you can do take other optional subject. as per your choice. but relating dental science there is no optional subject. so you have to compromise with the available subjects. all the best for your preparation hope you will make your place in the coming civil service examination selection.
