Being an ECE student you can make project related to ROBOTICS, NETWORKING(networking for you college campus),embedded system( make use of processors and controllers and you can make swaping cards etc this was just an example)
you can also make project using programming languages like bank automation sysytem etc
you can develop game using java etc.
many options are there just find out the right one.
