Which types of books should be studied by a student for UP PCS who is not doing any coaching classes for the preparation? Books till which standard should he study?

UP PCS stands for Uttar Pradesh Provincial Civil Services.

This exam is conducted by State government of Uttar Pradesh.

1. If you are not good at social science subjects then you should first read either state government books for social science or NCERT books for Geography, Economics, Political science etc.

2. After finishing these books, refer to following books:

Indian Polity by Laxmikant.

History by Bipan Chandra.

Economics by Ramesh Singh.

Geography by Savinder Singh etc.

• Newspaper for National events are HINDU, Times of India, and India Today.
• Newspaper for International events are : Economist and New York Times.

For History of India and India National Movement :

• Class 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th History (NCERT) books.
• India Struggle for freedom by Bipin Chandra Pal
• Modern India by B.L Grover
• History of India by Romila Thapar.

For Indian and World Geography:

• Class 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th Geography NCERT books
• Oxford school atlas
• Physical Geography of India by C.S Pichamuthu
• Certificate and Human Geography (Oxford) by Goh Cheng Leong
• Indian Census report and dictionary on geography by Penguin publisher.
