Which type of OBC cast certificate is required for IIT-JEE exam? Is it state of central? Or, both are acceptable for IIT-JEE?

JEE stands for Joint Entrance Examination and it is a national level entrance examination held by CBSE for admission in undergraduate technical degree course across various CFTIs such as IIT, NIT, ISM, etc. and other private engineering colleges.

As JEE is a national level examination and held for admission mainly across CFTIs so the reservation and acceptance of caste certificate for the same examination is provided as per the Central list not the state list and therefore to avail the facility of reservation you must have caster certificate according to the Central list.

If you want to claim reservation benefits due to being an Other Backward class then you need to produce either central government OBC certificate or state certificate will also serve the purpose.

Candidates who parent's income is less than 8 lacs per annum are under non creamy layer of OBC and eligible for reservation benefits. Those who are above 8 lacs are under creamy layer of OBC and not eligible for reservation benefits.

You have to apply for caste certificate in your block in state.
It will be issued by them and it takes a time of 7 to 8 days.
It is acceptable all across India.

Since, JEE ( Joint Entrance Examination ) is national level entrance examination held for offering admission in engineering colleges funded by the Central government therefore to avail any relaxation or reservation based on caste you will have to submit OBC certificate issued on the basis of Central list.
