Hi, my daughter was born on 23rd May, 2009 and she is in Class V now. Is she eligible for admission in class VI in academic year 2019-2020 in any school affiliated to CBSE Board of Education? Please clarify.

The age criteria for admission in std 6th in CBSE affiliated school is not decided by the school.

It is decided by the school or the directorate of state government. So, visit the school for the detail information.

There is no age criteria defined by the CBSE for it's affiliated school to get admission in the std 6th.

So, kindly visit the school to get detail about it. The age criteria is decided by Directorate of State Education board.

As per the CBSE School admissions criteria to any class, the age of the candidate should be such that the minimum age of the candidate should be 14 years as on the 1st October of that year in which candidate got admitted to his/her Class 10th.

So, being born on 23rd May 2009 and currently studying in Class 5 right now, your daughter will be eligible for appearing in Class 10th board examination which is likely to be in 2024 as her age will be over 14 years as on the 1st October of 2023 i.e; year in which she got admitted to her Class 10th.

The age criteria required to get admission in 6th standard in CBSE Board school is 10 years 6 months. You should have passed 5th standard in all subjects from a government recognised board to be eligible to get admission for pursuing 6th standard. Admissions to 6th standard in CBSE Board are offered only if there are vacant seats and admissions are offered through merit basis of entrance examination.
