IAS stands for Indian Administrative Service

IPS stands for Indian Police Service

This exams conducted by UPSC Every Year.....



Educational Qualifications:


A candidate must have completed their Graduation Study in any Discipline from Recognized Universities are eligible for IAS and IPS exam....

Final years student who are waiting for their final result can also apply for it. there is no minimum percentage required for this exam.....

Age Limit :-

Minimum age ~~~> 21 years old..

Maximum age ~~~> 30 years old..

The upper age relaxation is applicable for other categories...

3 years relaxation for OBC...

5 years relaxation for SC/ST...

Attempt Limit:

General student can apply maximum 4 times....

OBC student can apply maximum 7 times....

SC/ST student have no attempt limit...


Exam Pattern:

The exam have three stages:

1. Prelim Exam
2. Main Exam
3. Personal Interview

Firstly you should know that entrance exam for both Indian Administrative Service as well Indian Police Service is the same. It is called Civil Services Examination.

The age limit is same for both the exams. For general category student, the age limit is 30 years. Since you are 27 years old, it is possible for you to appear for the entrance exam.

I hope this solves your confusion. I should further add that the age of the candidate is calculated as on the August 1 of examinaton year. For example if you are appearing for the Civil Services Examination in 2014, your age would be based on August 1, 2014.

Up to August 1 you should be within the age limit which is 30 years. Suppose your birthday is in April. So next year when you will be applying for the Civil Services Examination in January, your age will be registered as 28 years since it will be based on August 1.

If you are 29 years old in January when the forms are released but you will cross the 30 years mark before August 1 of same year, in such case you will not be allowed to apear for the Civil Services Examination.


Eligibility

1. Indian nationals are eligible to apply for this exam.

2. The minimum qualification required to appear is graduation.

3. There is no minimum percentage criteria.

4. As on August 1 of exam year you should be between 21 to 30 years old.

5. Upper age limit is extended to 33 years for OBC.

6. Similarly there is 5 years extension in upper age limit for SC/ST.


Selection Procedure

1. You will first give preliminary exam. Based on the performance you will be called for the second stage of written tests called Main Examination.

2. In Main Examination you will appear for 9 written tests ranging from Language, general studies and 2 subjects of your choice.

3. Personal Interview is the last step.

For entry in to Indian Administrative service/ police service the age limit for general category is from 21 to 35. This also can be relax for PH candidate with valid disability certificate to 21- to 45.

Do not get confused. Select your subject, consult a carrier consultant and enroll your self in a good coaching center, prepare best.

There are several coaching center which are offering coaching for IAS/ IPS EXAM. The UPSC is conducting the exam every year.

For the IAS (Indian Administration Services) and IPS (Indian Police Services) exam the candidate must have a qualification of graduation from any stream from a recognized university.
The Age criteria for IAS and IPS exam is as follows:
For General Category: 32 years

For OBC Category: 32 years with 3 year of age relaxation= 35 years

For SC/ST category: 32 years with relaxation of 05 years= 37 years

Physically disabled candidate: 32 years with relaxation of 10 years= 42 years

Jammu & Kashmir Domicile: Gen= 37 years, OBC= 40 years, SC/ST= 42 years, Physically Handicaped= 50 years

Disabled serviceman (disabled from duty): Gen= 37 years, OBC= 38 years, SC/ST= 40 years
